Assisted Living Week, September

Honored the second week of September, Assisted Living Week recognizes those who serve our seniors in assisted living communities. The American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living announce a theme each year to celebrate all week long.

Juneteenth, June 19

Juneteenth, also known as Juneteenth National Independence Day or Freedom Day, is considered the oldest known celebration commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863, but it wasn’t until two years later that the news arrived in Galveston, Texas on June 19, 1865.

Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, May

Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month celebrates achievements and contributions of Asian and Pacific Americans. The month of May was chosen to commemorate the immigration of the first Japanese to the United States on May 7, 1843. It also marks the anniversary of the completion of the transcontinental railroad on May 10, 1869, built with significant contributions from Chinese workers.
